Dry Sorbent Injection for SO3 & Other Migration

Dry Sorbent Injection for SO3

What is A Dry Sorbent Injection System?

A dry sorbent injection system is an effective method of pollution control that uses ground, powdered, or other fine-grain sorbent materials to reduce harmful emissions from exhaust gases generated by industrial processes. The sorbents are pneumatically injected from a storage silo into the flue gas stream, where it adsorbs vaporized mercury or other toxic substances from flue gas.

The sorbent material used and the rate at which it is injected depend upon the process that is generating the exhaust, the materials used in that process, and the type of air pollution control equipment being used.

Sorb-N-Ject® Technology: Dry Sorbent Injection with Guaranteed Performance

There are a number of technologies available to help industrial boiler operators, fossil fueled electrical generation facilities, and biomass plants meet recently established and emerging EPA requirements (including Boiler MACT). Determining the most cost-effective method of Hg, HCl, HF, SO2, or SO3 mitigation can be a daunting task.

Nol-Tec's Sorb-N-Ject technology covers a wide variety of dry sorbent injection solutions. Our team will work with you to develop a customized Sorb-N-Ject system that provides the dry sorbent capabilities you need to bring your power generation, boiler, or biomass facility into compliance.

We are the proven industry leader, with dozens of successful permanent installations at companies such as TVA, Seminole Electric Co-Op, Southern Companies, and Kentucky Utilities/LG & E. Our approach utilizes reliable handling methods for effective sorbent materials delivery. Depending on your application and processes, Sorb-N-Ject technology can deliver:

  • Hydrated lime injection
  • Trona injection (sodium sesquicarbonate)
  • SBC injection (sodium bicarbonate)

In addition, Nol-Tec supplies all manner of pneumatic ash handling equipment.

Sorb-N-Ject® Mercury Abatement Solutions

Nol-Tec can also provide activated carbon injection systems for mercury abatement. Powdered activated carbon has been proven to be the most effective sorbent for capturing mercury from flue gas streams, and our Sorb-N-Ject technology is ideally suited to conveying this notoriously difficult to handle material.

On-Site Testing for System Optimization

Every application is different, so every dry sorbent injection system needs to be different, as well. To ensure that your Sorb-N-Ject system delivers ideal performance for your unique application, we utilize a portable Sorb-N-Ject system to cost effectively verify the proper sorbent, chemical use rate, and injection location, right at your own facility.

Your emissions mitigation results and required system configuration are determined before you buy a permanent Sorb-N-Ject solution. Additional services offered include CFD and chemistry-predictive duct modeling and stack monitoring studies.
